If heat has got you beat, this is the class for you. Learn how to make do-it-yourself, cooling, all natural herbal preparations for calming the senses, soothing the skin, and quieting the mind in order to cope with summer. Pitta season, the season of fire, heats us up from the inside-out, leaving us more prone to many type of inflammatory conditions, such as diarrhea, irritability, anger, excess sweating, foul odors, exhaustion and burnout, acne and rashes, etc. To counteract Pitta, Ayurveda recommends self-care practices with all natural ingredients that cool, soften and soothe.
You will receive a grocery list of ingredients to have at home for quick and easy cooling self-care treatments from during the summer months in the Midwest.

Aug 10, 6-8pm: Ayurvedic Guide to Eating Out
In the West, fast foods pervade every town as people struggle to make their own meals given busy schedules all year round. But for those who are health conscious, fast food is no longer acceptable as it is laden with preservatives, artificial flavorings and highly processed foods. Ayurveda and yoga promote the preparation of food by loving and caring hands, typically at home where the ingredients are fresh and tastes are moderate. How can we apply Ayurvedic principles of food preparation and consumption in the Western world where eating out is oftentimes the only solution?
In this evening discussion we will understand the Ayurvedic approach to eating out. We will peruse some local Madisonian restaurant menus as we come to understand the difference between healthy and not when indulging outside of the home. Join us for this fun and interactive experience and leave with a list of local restaurants at which you can find Ayurvedically prepared cuisine!
